The second way of driving targeted traffic to your ecommerce website is by naturally getting your website listed in the search engines. This is called search engine optimization and needs to be completed by a seo professional that knows what they are doing. How to Rank Higher in Google With My Top 5 SEO Tips

If you’ve stumbled upon this article, chances are pretty good that you want to rank higher in the search engines, and particularly, how to rank higher in Google, Yahoo, and Bing. Well, here’s the good news first: you can!

But of course, every piece of good news comes with a downside, and that is the following: reaching a #1 ranking in Google takes a lot of time, a lot of work and there are no shortcuts (sorry!). There aren’t even many “SEO secrets” that aren’t already known by most webmasters. However, there are 5 very straightforward SEO tips I can give you, a webmaster, if you’re looking to increase your search engine exposure and reach the first page of Google’s SERPs (Search Engine Results Page):

1) Title Tags. If you asked me, “What is the easiest, quickest way to improve my Google ranking, I’d say it’s optimizing your title tag. Your title tag is the title of the webpage you want a higher rank for. The title for the page you’re on right now is probably something like, “How to Rank Higher in Google with my Top 5 SEO Tips.”

If you are trying to rank a site that is about Jungle Gyms, you probably want your title tag to be something like, “Jungle Gyms – Safety and Maintenance” or if you’re looking to sell Jungle Gyms, maybe something like, “Buy Jungle Gyms at Discount Cost.” You get the idea.

Here’s the summary: figure out what your potential readers/customers will be searching for to find you, and make your title tag something very, very close to that. Google thinks Title Tags are extremely important, and you should too.

2) Site content. Even if your title tags are optimized, the content of your site must closely match what your audience is searching for. If you’re selling Jungle Gyms but you don’t have the words “Jungle Gyms” anywhere on your site, Google will think your site is about something else, and it won’t show your site to people who search for “Jungle Gyms.” Especially important is to put your target keywords in your header tags (H1, H2, etc.), as Google sees these as especially important pieces of content on your site.

3). Inner linking. Try as much as you can to link to all the pages on your site, within your site. For example, if you have a page on your site that is about Jungle Gym safety, include a sentence on that page about Jungle Gym maintenance, and link your readers to that page, as well. Not only does this help readers navigate through your site, but it helps Google spiders crawl your site, and this helps your sites get ranked. Also, make sure to include the proper anchor text. So, do not include a link that says “Click here,” or else Google will think your site is about “clicking here.” Make your anchor text something like “Jungle Gym maintenance.”

4) Anchor-text optimized backlinks. Speaking of backlinks, you’re going to need them. A lot of them. Backlinks are the single most important factor to SEO. If you do not have high quality, anchor-text relevant backlinks, you’re never going to reach the top of Google’s SERPs. Aside from having a great website that other webmasters will link to naturally, the best way to get high quality backlinks is to create them yourself.

You can get backlinks from article directories like this one, you can post in forums with your site in your signature, you can post in blogs, you can submit your site to various online directories, and much more. Spend the majority of your time bolstering your backlink profile (and invest in SEO software, if you must), because that is what Google looks to when they want to decide if your site is legitimate or not.

5) Patience, patience, patience. This is probably the best tip I can give you. 99.9% of site owners try to understand SEO and eventually quit, because ranking their site took too long. It’s a cliche, but it’s true: Search Engine Optimization is a marathon, not a sprint. You won’t rank #1 overnight. It never happens. Ever. You’ll need persistence above all, and with the right SEO tools, SEO training, and SEO strategies like the ones I’ve given you above, you too can be one of those at the top.

How to Maintain an eCommerce Website

Setting up an eCommerce website isn’t the end of the work that needs to go into it. To ensure that it remains optimised and performs highly, effective maintenance is essential. A website should be considered an ongoing project, especially in the highly competitive and fast paced eCommerce industry.

Understanding the ongoing requirements that a website needs is crucial for growing your business and customer base. We’ve identified the six key areas that you should be considering regularly to ensure you get maximum value from it.

Monitoring customer journey

Understanding how your customers move through and interact with your website should be considered essential. It can help you understand where you’re losing customers in the sales funnel to devise improved strategies. It can also identify where your efforts can be focused in terms of product development and marketing, allowing you to yield better results.

Seek feedback

Do you currently seek feedback from your customers? Trends and technology change rapidly, feedback helps you assess where you need to make changes across your website to reflect this. Request feedback on various aspects of your businesses to inform how your website looks and operates. Listening to your customers can help take your business to the next level by helping you provide solutions.

Keep security up to date

Security is a huge issue within the eCommerce market and security updates should be performed as part of your routine tasks. Ensuring that you stay on top of security challenges not only improves your business in terms of reducing risks, it can give consumers the confidence to make a purchase by offering safe payment options.

Ensure you have a SSL

As part of your security updates, make sure that you have a valid SSL certificate. It’s the standard technology for encrypting data and should be considered a fundamental part of your eCommerce maintenance procedures.

Monitor your website speed and accessibility

Consumers today expect speed. If your website takes too long to load, they’ll simply head somewhere else. Poor speeds can be caused by several different web design aspects. If your website is taking longer than a few seconds to load, it’s to look at the reasons behind it, such as images that are not optimised, inefficient sever hardware, or code. Make checking your speeds one of your regular activities.

Use Google Analytics

Google’s algorithms are continuously being developed and how you perform on these indicators has a direct impact on your business and website traffic. Staying up to date with the latest SEO trends and investing time and resources into implementing them across your site is a critical eCommerce maintenance step.

Using Meta Tags Wisely to Attract Search Engines and Visitors

There are certain tricks and techniques in SEO industry, which can fetch you real quick and top ranking in short run and get banned for ever, which I am discussing in this article. Before optimizing any site, always follow code of ethics and never spam.

In this article, I will be discussing about meta tags. How to use the them effectively without spamming. Its not just another article about meta tags. Read on to find out more..

Meta Tags are very important for your website’s visibility. Many search engines read them from your site when you submit it to them.

META tags were developed and made a HTML standard for the purpose of addressing specific information about your web page that does not affect the way your page actually looks.

1. Overstuffing Metatags : Believe me or not , there are still many people and web masters around who think that meta tags are magic bullet. Its not anymore.

Mistake No. 1: Stuffing keywords in Title

Mistake No. 2: Stuffing keywords in Description

Mistake No. 3: The keyword tag.

Mistake No. 1 : Stuffing keywords in Title

I agree that its very important to include your main keywords in title tag. But there are certain things, which you should remember, as title tag is the most important tag.

  • Title tag length should be within 70 characters or 8 words
  • Title tag should be meaning full and attract visitors
  • Use one to two keywords in title tag
  • Use plurals & concentrate on keyword phrases rather than just keyword.
  • Make sure that title tag is grammatically correct

Syntax of Title Tag :

Your site title goes here

Now, lets me show you live demo on Title tag. Please search for “Office furniture uk” in Google, without double quotes. See the results. This is the first site listed under Google.

Office Furniture Home UK, Home Office Furniture London, Home …

Office Furniture UK Online Home Office and Small Office Shopping England,

London, UK. Furniture, Office, Seat, Seating, Desk, Desks …

Description: Uses full screen flash with exit button. Offering bespoke office furniture solutions for businesses….

Welcome to furniture123 – Bedroom furniture, Office furniture, …

.. desk uk, child bed, home office furniture, child furniture, dining furniture, coffee table, office chair, furniture retailer, upholstery uk, bathroom furniture …

Welcome to – Blueline Furniture – Ergonomic furniture, Custom …

.. has pioneered the manufacture of office furniture using timber … FIRA GOLD Quality Award as its furniture hire, minimum … dealer network across the UK and Channel …

UK’s leading furniture retailer offering an extensive range of quality furniture, including home office furniture, bedroom furniture, dining furniture, beds …

These are the above first 4 results arrived for the term “Office furniture UK” in google. Now have a look over title and description. The first title does not make any sense and its stuffed with keywords, though its ranking no.1 it would have less click thorough as compared to no 2 and no 3.

A fair and attractive title would be something like :

Offers quality office furniture at discount price in UK ( Short title )

UK’s leading furniture retailer offering office furniture at discount ( Perfect one )

Look at the above two titles. It conveys some message with a perfect sense. The best possible keywords have been used and its catchy too. Just by crafting a good title you can increase your click through, even though you are not listed in top 1 or 2 positions. I hope now you must have got some idea about crafting good title. Now lets jump to next step. Yeah. Description Tag.

Description Tag :

Description tag is still important as most of the search engines still give importance to it. Sometimes even Google picks up description tag. An ideal description should be somewhere within 150 to 200 characters, which correctly describes the content of the page. Make sure to place 2 to 3 important keyword phrases within first 100 characters.

Tip 1 : Make sure that description tag comes immediately after title tag.

Tip 2. Make sure that the first paragraph or the heading of the page contains 2 to 3 important keyword phrase.

Tip 3. If possible you the targeted keyword phrase in text links to get boost.

Things to avoid :

  1. Do not stuff the description tag with keywords.
  2. Do not use generic keywords, use keyword phrases
  3. Do not repeat the title in description

Keyword Tag :

The keyword tag is almost dead. Most of the web masters try to flood the key word tag with all sorts of keywords. Hardly couple of search engines gives a bit of importance to it.

Please note that, directories like Yahoo, Dmoz & About does not consider keyword tag or meta tags. I do not recommend using keyword tag. If you use the keyword tag, do not include more than 8 keyword phrases.

  1. Include only important long keyword phrases.
  2. Don’t use generic / general terms. Be specific
  3. Use Word tracker to find good keyword phrases

  1. Do not spam by stuffing all the possible keywords.
  2. Do not include the keywords, which are not related to your website
  3. Do not repeat any tag ( title, description, keyword tag ) you might get boost by repeating, but never know when you will be banned.

Other important things to remember :

  1. Meta tags ( Title & Description ) should reflect the content the page. Do not put your company name in title.
  2. Do not try to target more than 2 to 3 keyword phrases per page
  3. Try to include your important keyword phrases in h1 to h6 tag.
  4. Include your important keyword phrases in tag, bold tag.
  5. You will get boost if you include your important keyword phrases in anchor tag.
  6. Do not forget to Include your important keyword phrases in first paragraph of your web page.
  7. Try to put your important keyword phrases in alt text. ( for images )
  8. Make sure that title and description is crafted neatly and attracts both visitors and search engines.

Robots (Recommended)

See the workshop report at W3 for the full text.

default = empty = “ALL”

The filler is a comma separated list of terms:

Discussion: This tag is meant to provide users who cannot control the robots.txt file at their sites. It provides a last chance to keep their content out of search services. It was decided not to add syntax to allow robot specific permissions within the meta-tag.

INDEX means that robots are welcome to include this page in search services.

FOLLOW means that robots are welcome to follow links from this page to find other pages.

So a value of “NOINDEX” allows the subsidiary links to be explored, even though the page is not indexed. A value of “NOFOLLOW” allows the page to be indexed, but no links from the page are explored (this may be useful if the page is a free entry point into pay-per-view content, for example. A value of “NONE” tells the robot to ignore the page.

There are other meta tags like, Author, language, Copyright, Re-visit, classification etc. which are ignored by most of the search engines. Experience says, use the three tags wisely ( title, description & keywords ). You will be attracting both visitors and search engines. You can also use our free meta tag generator at []

How to Construct a Title Tag to Improve Search Engine Rank

The title tag of a website page tells the search engines what the content on the page is about. It can influence search rankings, click through rate and user experience. In order to achieve higher page rankings, it is crucial that your website utilize title optimization effectively. Below are some suggested title SEO best practices.

First and foremost, in case you don’t already know, the foundation of good search engine optimization always starts with keyword research. And I’m not just referring to the basics, such as search volume and competitiveness of your keywords. Knowing that information is helpful, but to really leverage the value of title tag SEO to improve search engine rank you have to be clear on the priority for your keyword phrases.

In the beginning, I strongly suggest you try to rank for the easier keyword phrases first. There is far more value in being on the first page of Google for a lower tier keyword than on page three or four for a major keyword phrase.

The idea is to be on the first page of Google for as many keywords as possible. Bear in mind, it is not your website that you are trying to improve search engine rank for, but rather the individual pages of your site. That is why it is so vitally important that page content and title tag keyword sets are highly relevant. Whatever the priority of the page you’re trying to rank, put that keyword set in the first title tag position and then again in the second position, but this time try to break up the keyword set with an appropriate filler word that creates a related long tail keyword.

The Stages of System Analysis and Design of an eCommerce Website

How to get started?

Designing an eCommerce website is certainly the best thing for the website designers, because it allows them to use their creativity to the fullest. Today, the eCommerce website has become the great trend setter and is more associated with the customer’s morals and emotions. Every eCommerce website has a USP and something that clinches buyers to visit the website.

Whether it is Amazon, eBay or Alibaba, history tells that every successful eCommerce website has written their own success stories at the time of designing only. All these websites are so popular among the users not just because of their services or the range of products they offer, but because of their great user interface and extremely friendly website design.

Even a person who doesn’t know much about the computer or the internet can spend hours on these websites simply because they provide a very friendly design and architect. This signifies how important is the designing and analysis of the eCommerce website.

How does it all start?

Getting started with the design of an eCommerce website is a big challenge for the designers and also for the people who have initiated this idea. Having your own eCommerce store sounds quite resounding, but it takes a hardcore approach to materialize the idea in the real world. Before you began with the designing of your own eCommerce store, you must have the answers of these questions ready, so that you will end up in providing a great product to your audience.

What is the objective of your store?

What would be your target audiences?

In which area or demographics you are targeting your customers?

What products or categories of products you want to sell through your store?

Which major brands you want to associate with?

What would be the initial budget of your store?

Site Architecture and Wire Frame

Now, since you have all the answers ready with you that means you can move ahead and get into the real part of the designing. The site architecture and the wireframe are the most critical part of the eCommerce store. How much you invest your brain and creativity in designing the site architecture will write your success story. History tells that even after investing millions of dollars, many eCommerce stores have failed to get attention from the customers because of their poor architecture and wireframe. Though, you could take every bit of the technology for designing a great friendly UI and website architecture, but your own creativity will be the key to success.

Some of essential and vital elements of a good wire frame and the site architecture

Site Navigation

Site Home Page Feasibility

Menus, Sub Menus and Product Pages

Shopping Cart feature

Secured and fast Payment Gateway

Bradcrumb and Side bars

Header and Footer structure

Visualizing the design

All the great programmers or designers always take the blueprint of their design and use their visualizing skills to create a replica of the design in their minds. This will give them the sheer thought in which way they are moving and isn’t they are moving in the right direction. Most of the occasions, during the stage of the wireframe and site architecture, people get diverted from their original ideas and objectives. Here, visualization helps them to end up in a mainframe design that resounds well with their initial idea.

Began with the programming

The zest of the entire design is the programming. Once you have the sound visualization about the theme and concept of your website design, then it’s now time to do some ground work and get started with the programming. Doesn’t matter which language or framework you are using like Php or.Net, but it is important that programming must go with your initial idea.

The most important part of the programming is the workflow and work management. Designing an eCommerce store is really a tough deal for the programmer because they have to create thousands of pages and embed tons of functionality for designing a great user friendly website.

CMS and Content Delivery Networks

The highly critical part of any website is its database. While designing the eCommerce store, you must give a thought of having a comprehensive and extended database to accommodate all the information on the website. If you don’t want to have a static Data Base then you can certainly go with the CDN’s (Content Delivery Networks), that will help you in providing an effective database with a good uptime on the server that means your users’ will enjoy browsing on your website.

Make precise and good CSS and Java elements

The Cascade Style Sheet or popularly known as CSS will help you in involving the great design elements that will really cherish your users. Every user wants to browse through the website and have their preferences for the various design elements. Be it the font colour, font style, or header colour or may be the colour of your main navigation menu, every CSS design element makes an impact on the users. Like CSS, the Java elements specially the flash images also make a positive impact on the user mindset, but make sure that you must not involve too many javascripts or flash because it may increase the website load time and user doesn’t like this.

Uploading products on the website

The products are the zest of every eCommerce store; therefore a special care should be taken while uploading the products on the website. It is really an exhilarating job for the designers, if you are uploading the huge bunch of the products under different categories. Here you should have the high definition images of every single product and those images should be fragmented and processed by a professional designer. Though, it is also important that every image should be compressed before uploading otherwise, it will increase the load time on the server and user won’t be able to see the product images properly.

Testing and Launching of the website

Now it’s time to launch the website, but before that you must consider your website for testing. Testing is often the final funnel through the website goes before going live on the web. The professional website engineers conduct various tests on the website and suggest better ways to improve the feasibility of the website for the users.

After your website successfully passed through the testing, then it’s now time to take your website live on the web for the users with a bang. Make sure that you must consider various display marketing, PCC and digital marketing techniques for promoting your website to the users.
